93 K WRX-Ra Gearbox Change?
Hi,
I have a 93K WRX-RA and a Friend has a 95M WRX-RA STi2 V-Limited
My gearbox revs out all to quick compared with his and before you know it you have hit the rev limiter around 7k Yet his is Much Quicker. mainly as it came as std with more bhp but it does much more mph in each gear. and also has a higher top end.
Would it be possible for me to put in a Later spec 6 Speed box without changing the engine or to much other problems arising?
If yes where would i be best looking to find one and how much should i look at paying?
Is it also possible to raise the rev limit to around 8k?
Many Thanks
Derek Clarke

The Sti ratios are realy good for the road, and I found my Sti v3 faster with the Sti box than the RA box I fitted for a short time.
As to the 6 speeder, simply go to David at www.apiengines.co.uk and talk to him. He's straight as a die so no bull ****.
Simple UK or Jap 6 speeder seems to go for about £2000. You have to change the rear diff/propshaft etc so a laboursome job.
Personally, I would go for the Sti box (£500) and a matching ratio rear diff (£100).
Time to change the trans is about 2 or 3 hard days if you are on your own in a one car garage...real hard job this way (done it 3 times....)
Good luck, just talk to David (he has Sti boxes too). Tell him 911 sent you!

Thanks For the Info.
I have now got a friend who wants to buy a WRX, I might sell him mine and i will buy a later spec one.
If he does not have mine then i will probably go for the Sti option. I thought id be looking around £1000 for the 6 speed but i was well out on that one.
Thanks Again for the Help.
