Default VF34 on MY00 STi Version 6???

Hello people,

I would like to know if fitting a VF34 turbo to a JDM Impreza WRX STi Version 6 is a worthwhile exercise?

This is a list of mods on the car at the moment:
K&N cone air filter
Carbon fibre airbox + cold air induction
SAMCO Silicon inpipe + intercooler piping
3” polished stainless exhaust system + twin downpipe
MRT bigger top mount S/S intercooler
MRT 400hp fuel pump
MRT Fuel rail + fuel pressure regulator
MRT Intercooler water spray system
ECUTek ECU Re-Map (V2)
GFB lightened pulley set
Leaded compatible Lambda sensor

My other question is, what injectors does this car have?? I see Gruppe-S sells packages that inclu STi 565cc injectors with their VF34 turbo`s, but I am not sure of what size injector the Version 6 uses??

The current turbo is the std VF28 unit

Thanks in advance

Your car has 440cc injectors as standard, and depending on what you want to do (power wise) depends on what turbo you should fit, though most will tell you that tbh there wont be that much difference in changing the turbos, but as stated, it depends what power your after.

Sti Gruppe-S injectors are top-feed from the bugeye/blobeye STi's whereas yours are side feed (440 AFAIK) so you'll need an adaptor kit to fit them (working on one at the moment)

Russell

ps - Scoty can do 550's for you for about £275 if that helps

Yes they are 440`s

Wouldnt they be able to cope with a VF34?? I already have a MRT400hp fuel pump and the uprated MRT fuel rail on there

I'd say swapping a vf28 for a vf34 is pretty worthless. Power gains would be pretty limited. Go for an 05/06.

A custom remap would also be beneficial, even with the vf28. How much boost are you running currently?

AFAIK the VF34 and VF28 are trhe same beast. The only difference being the actuator cracking pressure.

24 and 28 yes Scott. VF34 is different, but not sufficiently different to want to change IMHO.

Hi Gerardo,
long time no see mate,i decided not to sell my97 wrx and will be coming down to joburg anytime next year, i ordered a TD0518G from deadbolt instead of the VF34. Is Richard from Nxgen around, i've tried emailing him but his inbox is full and his cell keeps going to voicemail? I wanted to know whether he can map the apex-i power FC for my car as i also have that on the way, anyways good to see you around,

cheers,

Thanks mate, real pity about the distance when modding Scoobs here, you can get quite a lot here but freight and import duties are a killer
