HELP gearbox troulbes
I have just managed to get my car home making a really bad noise.
Seems to making a clacking noise like the old football rattles but only in 2nd gear.
All other gears no probs its still pulling in 2nd but too scared to drive in that gear as i dont want to damage it further.
Anyone know is this a simple fix replacement of the 2nd gear cog or more serious ie whole new gearbox.
Its my only real means of getting to and from work (40 miles round trip and need over weekend)
if i drive in 1st and 3 rd will this damage my car jumping a gear or best to just borrow another car until i can get to extreme scoobies.
forgot to mention its a 1998 impreza sport manual.
thanks in advance

Personally I would not drive it. There might be pieces of steel in the oil that get lodges into other parts of the box.
To understand your options call David at www.apiengines.co.uk this morning and get a bullsh!t free opinion/options/costs/free advice.
