I have a 02 wrx engine which I am fitting into a vw beetle. I was just wondering the best (cheapest) way to get arond 300+bhp out of it

Surely not an old style beetle? Was rear engined.
Would be interested how the I/C is fed as the front end of the beetle doesn't look as though it lends itself to that.
300 plus would be achieveable with the right exhaust system - ECU mapping, fuel pump, regulator and turbo change to get to higher bhp's....
I still say you would be struggling with charge temps to keep it relaible, without some sort of good IC feed and or water / methanol spray.
