APS top mount appears to give very good results. Get the one designed for the classic, you might not need an STi scoop, but more air on it has to help. A lot of people also seem to rate the MRT one, although I think less have used it, and there's also the likes of the hyperflow. Two things you're really after - good surface area for cooling, minimal pressure drop of charge over the cooler; if you can get data on both of those features, pick one on statistics
Scoobysport are threatening a new fancy TMIC, but not available yet.

I have the MRT TMIC on my UK 97 and I'm very pleased with it.
I run a TD05 turbo up to 1.5 bar and never see more than one green on the knocklink, so it does it's job.
APS is also a superb bit of kit, very well constructed but the MRT one is prettier if you are into underbonnet looks.
Scoop wise I have the MRT 52mm scoop which is 10mm higher than the standard one with no vertical slats in to obstruct flow. It allows 20% greater airflow, but doesn't look out of place, which I think the 03STi style do on a classic.

Theres only one choice for a classic, it's the largest frontmount IC & radiator thats possible to fit on a classic. Both units fit where the current radiator sits. No bumper Cutting required, IC is fed from top and outlet is at the top also so easy to install. Also comes with slimline fans.

Only if you turn your manifold round to put the entry at the front do you need to change your aircon. if you route the intercooler pipes round the side like conventional FMIC's then the aircon can stay

Power limit of TMIC - Ask AndyF! IIRC he has one (admittedly a somewhat special one), and is running mid 10s at 136mph for the quarter mile

Daz.... i'm with Rich as far as the top mounts go. Having seen his MRT first hand (which is basically the AVO) i've got to say it does look a quality piece of kit. I'd go for this above the APS.... and if you give Rich a call i'm sure he'll get a good price on one for you too.

The AVO is exactly the same as the MRT item as they are made by the same manufacturer. The big difference is I paid 550 +vat for the Avo from JWRacing. The cheapest I have seen the MRT for in the UK is 800+vat.

Andy, how hot to touch was your tmic after the quartermile runs.
didnt mark burn his hand on it?
I will admit, it isn't all about size but I can't deny the performance I have seen so far from the lateral fmic.

No idea Adam, I personally can't run at 136 mph to get out and feel it and by the time the car had slowed down it would have been stone cold having had all that air blasting through it with zero boost.
I don't doubt the quality of the Lateral kit but what performance have you seen exactly ?
I mean real road/track performance such as professionally timed acceleration runs, not just the questionable numbers from a rolling road/dyno which doesn't take account of lag and pressurisation time for example.

I like the look too.. shame performance of it is similar to a hand drier... if our engines liked warm air and hot water then id buy one tomorrow.
