Exclamation rough idle

Hi all,

i had been have some trouble with my MY99 classic, The idle would be all over the place hunting and the CEL light would come on and go off, as well as the fuel consumption going up. Well i took it to a dealer in swindon for its service and told them about the problems and they said they would look at for me. On my return they said i had the oxygen sensor code in the ecu but once cleared it was ok. It wasn't i returned to them and they didn't really care told me it would be fine to drive and they would look at it in two weeks, on the drive back the CEL light came on again, so i went to a dealer in witney. All i can say is they were great on of the techs had a look straight away and with in 5 mins told me that the Air Mass Flow sensor was broken which was bringing the oxygen sensor code up, they didn't have one in stock but ordered on VOR and told me to drive it home off Boost as it could possibly kill the pistons, the next day i drove in and the car was sorted in no time at all.

I hope this has given light to any snags out there and hope that none use the 1st dealer as i think they have a long way to go, and i fully recomend the second.

thanks

Sounds like my Problem, 99 classic bad idle sometimes cutting out. I have code 32 which is oxygen sensor but im suspecting its the same as your problem, the MAF. Cheers for that.

Exactly the same thing is happening on my STI, have just received a replacement MAF and its being fitted this afternoon.

So will see if that sorts it on the drive home.
Will report back
