Mods for STi 8 Type UK - What are available
I will be picking my STi8 Type UK with PPP this week and was wondering what other forms of modification are available, proven to be reliable and cost effective.
I have been out of the Scooby scene for sometime now, so was wondering what the current state of play is, should I wish to look for alternatives other than the PPP that is currently on the vehicle.
I'm not really looking at going mental (been there and done that, spending over £10k on a RS500 to take it to 500bhp), but anything up to and in between to be honest. Starting from the ECUTEK type solutions, up to 400bhp jobbies.
A good place to start would be the best results attainable with a remap, exhaust and filter would be cool!
If anyone has any experience of any methods on the TYPE UK model and also have any proven outputs and timings etc (with reliability reports) it would be very much appreciated.
Of course any of the tuners that would care to give comment would be cool.
I am looking to spend most time on the handling/setup rather than mods so the simplist and (non interna) would probably be best...... but we all know where that ends up dont we.
Regards,
Shaun.

Martin,
Cheers as I do have that. Unfortunately these types of "Group" tests can be very subjective and certainly do not take many other things in to account. Always best to get first hand driver feedback, together with direct feedback from the industry..... some where between the 2 you should get a realistic picture.

There never was an STi7 TYPE UK, the first UK STi was an 02MY so that would have been an STi8. This means that yours will be an STi9 or STi10 if it's an 04MY.
Perhaps that's why you've had so few replies, nobody is sure what you've got.......

The first thing I would do is take a trip to Swindon to see Bob Rawle.
www.brdevelopments.com Or click the banner at the top of the screen when it comes around
A 3 port Boost solenoid, STi panel filter and a proper custom remap of the factory ECU and you will see a healthy power gain across the board. With masses of extra torque and driveability.
That should keep you going for a while at least.
After that a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust and remap will see a bit more power. Then a Turbo, injectors and FMIC.

You have PM re handling.
Performance is all well and good but I manage to get away with it against the big engine boys on the twisty bits.

tsl 333 for me-much smoother more powerful and flexible than 03 ppp,get a demo drive in one, they are toying with chargecoolers at present.the evo article was more about what is available ie ppp/tsl/graham goode/aps/rcm and what there various stages are-depends on the limit of your wallet/visa!
jap performance mag has not a giveaway mag with it describing the main tuners, mods etc -is a good read and wil give you plenty of options
