Standard to TEK 3...How Good?

Is TEK 3 really that good on a New age STI?
I know its down to how good the mapper is, but is there a "grin inducing" difference in performance as compared to standard. I would especially like to hear from those who have had a minimal amounts of mods; as to whether the car felt more powerful and smoother.

This will of course depend on your starting point and what your going to do with the car to complement the tek3. With a de-cat / fuel pump and panel filter your going to see around 60bhp. You cant fail to notice that.

If you think that giving the car more power will make it more fuel efficient then yeah your right, in theory you dont have to mash the right pedal to make it go so fast ........ however your right foot will be heavier and therefore it will go the other way and be less efficient.
It will have a smoother torque curve though with a good mapper

Not a newage, but the same applies really. Had a brd remap last year, and noticed straight away the difference in performance. Not just about bhp though, because torque was up soo much, it's much easier to drive around both fast and slow in higher gears. Corners that were once taken in 2nd gear @ 4k revs, can now be taken in 3rd @ 3k, and has much more pull on the other side ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Likewise, town driving is a much smoother affair, being able to amble along at 25-30mph @ 1500 revs with almost instant pickup if need be.
Recommended, go for it![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It almost certainly will be more fuel efficient on a long journey - e.g. if you're cruising at a steady 70mph or whatever on motorways. If you're using the extra 60bhp or whatever from mods cross country, you have to expect to see the petrol disappear significantly faster!
