I have an oe sti/prodrive exhaust bb and may be looking to fit a centre de-cat pipe from prodrive ,question is will this make much difference to the cars power and spool up etc or am I wasting my time with the more re-strictive sti/prodrive bb, and should go for a better make?
car is a uk 97 turbo

Fitted a centre decat to my old bugeye WRX, and it made a much better car. The most noticable improvement was the 3rd gear performance, which kicked in a lot earlier and gave much better accelaration. Best 60 quid I spend on her.

MMMM! just read the engine failure thing in this section and think I will probably give it a miss after what API Dave said about de-cats and air filters, I have a k&n panel filter in at the mo which may also be coming out.

Decatting the centre pipe makes a difference, but not as much -by all accounts- as decatting the downpipe!!

Hi
I have UK97 turbo and I went the full hog and decatted both downpipe and centre. I also have a prodrive back box. My car is alot more responsive since the full decat and has a much nicer deep burble from the exhaust. There is more power and torque lower down the rev range (circa 30bhp).
I was lucky to get both the downpipe and centre second hand for £150 ( power engineering T75 downpipe, magnex resonated centre). Car is also run on optimax
