Got a knocking when parking - Think something is worn/loose but cant see it.
When parking i felt something knock/clunk at the front end, it definatly feels like its from the suspension/wishbone somewhere.
It is an intermittant knock as most of the time i cannot make it do it but it does seem to happen more when i've done a motorway jouney or long drive.
i can also hear it when i go over bumps sometimes and the other day when i went to reverse out of a parking space with full lock on (clockwise) it felt like a wheel twitched.
I've looked under the car and everything looks spot on. No bushes look worn and all bolts are tight.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Or has anyone got any ideas what it could be?
Cheers
Craig

Drop link? I had one on my MY99 go soft and it made a clunking sound on lock and over speed bumps.
To check (easier to change them anyway) with the car NOT jacked up see if there is any lateral movement in the drop links on the front. If they move even slightly from side to side it can mean they need replacing.
Get some whiteline ones (both front and rear) and it will sharpen up the handling, much better than standard ones.
Dave.

Could you actually feel it though?
I've changed drop links loads of times, most of the times you can just hear the knocking, but the the noise i'm getting i can actually feel something is loose aswell.
Just going to check now.

Nope their solid.
Prob gonna replace them anyway - was looking to do it at some point.
Do you think it could be the anti-roll bar bushes - Could they cause some movement?

Not sure on the ARB bushes. The only other thing I was going to suggest was checking all the bolts are tight, but you've already done that.
You could check the steering column joint next to the turbo.
Dave.

I had a similar'ish problem, but only when reversing - loud/clunk noise. The source of the problem turned out to be newly fiitted Pads (new type/hard compound) - not copper greased enough on the edges etc, and were "sticking". Did you fit news pads?

Problem Solved!!
Turned out to be the brake pads cleaned them up and copper greased the mount so they slide easily and problem gone.
Supprised it was the pads because the clunk was so loud but hey fixed now - live and learn.
Cheers for the help

[QUOTE=Heple]Problem Solved!!
Great. When mine did this, I had all sorts of nightmares - though "Diff, suspensions, what else?!" Good to re-remember the basics. But aren't they a joy to change? Just pullout the pins, pop out/in, done (unlike other cars I know which require an assortment of tools).
