MOT with Center CAT only - Who's passed
MOT'd my car last year with the Center CAT only refitted.
It went through but only just with 0.3% CO (Limit =<0.3%) for natural idle.
looking at the previous year when I had the Center & DP fitted for some reason the limit was =<0.5% and it measured 0.49%. So again, only just through with both cats.........
It's now that time of year and I need to decide whether to fit the Center CAT of both CATS.
If the opinion is that just the Center will be fine, I may aswell risk just fitting that. Rather then spend another hour or so under the car fitting the DP.

Which model are you guys running - classic turbo? I think they have 2 Cats. The reason I ask is that I run a STi 5 and thinking of fitting a centre Cat and droping the DP Cat (some here have said that this will increase the gas flow/improve response etc) - incase this was experience?

You'll get more out of it with a remap but should be safe without if you can put up with pouring octane booster in.

Have tried to get my car through mot with the Cat in the Boot, but they would not pass it?!!
Last 2 years passed on just centre cat section which I leave on now, I do not really notice the loss of any power,a bit quieter on Motorways as well.

In the Boot?!! Now, what innovative method is that?! Presume your's is a classic turbo?

Yes I told them that they could put the Cat on,so I could pass the test,which would cost me x£ for the labour,and then take it off again and put it in the boot again.
I Suggested
That if I gave them x£ in advance they could leave the cat in the boot,they could pretend they put it on and let me pass the test and we will all be happy!
They did not comply sadly.
Car is MY2000.

My MY94 recently passed it's test with no cats in place. Think it might have something to do with the fact that my nieghbour works at a test center and he took it in for it's test. Slightly off topic, but was well chuffed as it's the first car I've owned that hasn't needed a thing done to pass it's test at the same test center.

mine passed with center only.
emmisions were stupidly low
something like (although cant find the paperwork)
CO = 0.11%
HC = 15PPM
natural idle CO = 0.13%
that on my own mapped PFC, but running closed loop (lambda = 1.00 on test)
you're more than welcome to borrow the centre section if you dont think yours is upto it ?
cheers

cool bit of hassle, but it passed
bit less hassle than mine today, which wouldn't have passed the emmisions test becasue the engine didnt work !
1 new fuel pump please
its good to have friends who are willing to get you out of a fix
thanks go out to NathanL & Buzz for sorting me a pump to get me home and a new one (in that order) & Mike of Rivvett autos for the 'yeah, it'll be the pump' comments
