Default Diff and driveshaft strength

Any ideas how much power the diffs and driveshafts can sustain in a 2003 WRX?

Neil, you won't break a diff, but once you get into 500 hp or so you will start to break rear [ usually] drive shafts if you provoke them. Thta's in a drag strip situation not on the road. The failsafe to stop driveshafts breaking is the gearbox

Rally cars and WRC cars aren't really valid as a comparison as they only make 300 ish horsepower, sure, a lot of Nm's and wildly differing surfaces but the brute power isn't there.

Crown wheel and pinions also break..

Rear diffs will break with 500+ hp. r180 stands more chance of lasting.

The driveshafts on the Classic car seem to be stronger than the New Age in my experience.

Rear diff goes before the front because it takes more load right So what would you look at replacing that with quafe or similar?. I notced most of the guys running around the 500+ mark have uprated front diffs but dint realise the rear was different to. Assuming a DCCD type r set up with plated rear 180 and ppg straight cut kit running 500, Would it be sensible to have a spare diff sitting in the garage? isnt mikee still on standard rear 180 ?

This lot have a great reputation for re-inforced, custom built driveshafts on road cars, touring cars, rally cars, etc...
