Default Is a remap needed for these mods?

The MY98 WRX has already been mapped by that dodgy Scottish bloke and runs great. I have just bought some manifold spacers from Carl and will be matching the manifold, spacers and head to aid gasflow as well as removing the water feed to the throttle body completely.

I know this will allow the air to move more freely and at a lower temp, but what are the reasons if any for a remap?

Cheers,

Wayne.

None, unless you want to run more boost, different fuel or closer to the edge

All you have done is help to reduce charge temperatures when the engine has been working hard for a long time, or it's a tad warmer out...they're advisable mods to help prevent det, rather than increase power

Default Gaskets

Do peolpe think its ok to make their own gaskets for the manifold from gasket paper, or is it wise to buy the genuine versions?

Never bothered trying to make gaskets, as the OEM gaskets have a metal layer in between the outer paper layers.

Gasket paper isn't really the best stuff to use when there's petrol around as there will be on the inlet manifold gaskets. You really need the genuine article, and two sets of them to fit the spacers I'm afraid

Note that a remap will likely see a bit more advance being possible, especially if you isolate the water header tank from inlet manifold too. Remap is not necessary, but beneficial

isolate the header tank how Richard?
I looked at relocating it to the air con position and also at using some plastic spacers in the original location but am as yet undecided

lol, his was easy I have made my own gaskets, but from proper high pressure steam gasket sheet. They have lasted well, off and on a few times now.

Andy
