Ticking when engine stopped ?!
97 UK Turbo 101K miles
Although I don't want to pre-empt answers, it sounds like the boost control solenoid sometimes keeps ticking away for a few seconds after the engine has stopped.
Why would it do this or could it be something else ?
Happens usually when engine fully warm after a proper run - motorway or harder open road driving - not normally when warmed up round town. It is intermittent and I'm only slightly worried as it may be indicative of something menacing as yet unknown ?
Anyone got experience / clues about this ?
Cheers

It's not cooling down ticking.
It does it for upto 2 seconds after the engine has stopped completely - regular fast loud ticking then it stops abruptly.
Very odd I know

I have a 97 uk, mine does this sometimes. If I start the car from cold, drive it out of the garage and then turn it off, the boost soleniod clicks merrily away for a few seconds, also sometimes if I have been on a blast the soleniod will be clicking nonestop when the car is at idle. Dont know why its does it, just does, it hasnt effected performance and has done this for 9 years.

I dont know why either it just does- I have also found that after a blast if it is ticking, turning off the ignition and starting the car a couple of seconds later it stops, weird or what.

It's the boost solenoid and it normally ticks for a little while after the ingnition is swithched off. It's normal and not a problem so you don't need to worry.
It could also be the heat shields cooling again not a problem
