Wink FRONT MOUNT I/C COOLER QUESTIONS FOR TSL 333

Was 'thinking' about getting a front mount intercooler for my MY04 WRX STI Type UK, already with TSL 333. I would be going to TSL Motorsport.

1. What sort of power would I be looking at - I have 330bhp at the moment?
2. Will this affect my insurance - car already has TSL 333, 18's, Prodrive springs and front and rear strut braces?
3. What do they to with the i/c spray?
4. What would be the cost of these works?

The sensible thing to do is call them and also my insurance company which I will do in due course but would like to see what you guys say first.

Regards,

Regards,
1. You don't really get a front mount for extra power per se, it's more to do with keeeping the intake temps down (If I understand it correctly), this does allow you more scope for tuning the car to extract more power safely, as more power = more heat, but its not a bhp increasing mod per se, if you see what I mean.

2. Yes, but i wouldn't imagine by much, entirely depends who you're with. The only way to know is to ask them.

3. I'm not sure, but my guess is that it would be redundant as it's there to fix to a problem which is negated by the front mount.

4. Varies depending on what one you go for, but I think a budget of about 1kish would seem to be realistic. I know that Harvey on here sells and fits Hybrid ones which seem to be highly regarded.

TSL paaaaaah.

Spend your money elsewhere.

Go to Roger Clark Motorsport and get one of the APS front mounts that they sell.

and Roger clark will probably say its not worth fitting a fmic to a car with a vf35 unless its a track car

( they said the same to me and I have vf35 /p18 )

If you do nothing else other than fit a front mount to your tsl 333 pack you will probably end up loosing a bit of power and increasing lag due to the much longer pipework.
A front mount is only any use once you start aiming at over 380bhp as the standard top mounts on the STIs is actually pretty good.

An fmic with remap will get you about 20bhp and 15nm extra. Atleast that's what i gained when i had an VF35

According to a current thread in General, everyone had better fit FMICs 'cos a plod in Devon reckons the bonnet scoops are illegal, and he will pull every Impreza he sees with one

Exactly my point TSL would be happy to take your money but not tell you that its probably not worth it. Whereas Roger Clark are professional and honest enough to tell you the truth and give real world advice that doesnt always line their pockets

Have experienced the "TSL treatment" for myself £15k's worth to be precise.

Thankfully found a far better and more honest tuning company at RCMS.

You're possibly being a little unfair to TSL Daz- they are a very professional and highly regarded outfit, as are Roger Clarks.

Please don't think that I'm either a customer, nor a particular fan, of TSL- I'm not. I do, however, consider there to be more appropriate places than this if you have an 'issue' with them rather than cast aspersions on open forum.
