Default Bluepoint Clutch Any Good??

As above are these clutches any good on a standard UK Turbo, my car has no mods and I have no intention of modding the car. The clutch comes with a 2year unlimited mileage warranty. Any comments please

Never heard of them, but they may be brilliant or cr@p.

It is a big job and expensive. IMHO call David at www.apiengines.com and discuss it all with him.
He does a superb Exedy clutch package that will enhance the car and give you a bullet proof clutch that will be fit and forget for you.
He is a professional, clear and bullsh!t-free zone, and I'm a happy customer.

Graham.

Doubt it's Bluepoint as that's a part of Snap-On.

Red face Oops

Sorry Guys yeah I think you are right I think its a Bluepoint. I was going to get my clutch from API and fancied them to fit it but the long drive from Ecosse was always going to be a problem!! A local garage has said they will carryout the change of the clutch for £400 including clutch kit which I reckon is a great deal? He said he would have fitted the clutch from API but I think the fitting charge would have been more expensive as he is probably making a bit on the price of the clutch kit (he is quoting £250+VAT) which is fair enough. He has already done one impreza clutch (dont know if it was a Turbo, and I dont know if that makes any difference?) so he should know what he is letting himself in for. Do you know if API would sell me a skimmed fly wheel if my one turns out to be screwed? I see they do it for £50 if you return your old one, or is this deal only for people who buy the clutch from them?
Yeah I dowt its from SnapOn Drb5 Long time no see how r u doin (I am the guy who followed you back from the wee run we had couple of yrs ago when u were a bit shy of the old gas, followed you to Stirling if I mind right)
Thanks for the offer Fiestaboy hopefully the garage dont f### it up!!! If they do I will give you a call!
Cheers Ricky

Yeah Dave I still have the Silver Wagon, 66k now and thus the clutch issue. I have been thinking of getting rid of it and getting someting more practical but enjoy driving it to much
What do you have now? I spied your old car in Drive just before they cosed up have you got another impreza?

I had a Bluepoint clutch fitted by a local garage in Hemel, said it would be around £450, when I picked it up it was £575....cash clutchwas more expensive than one they priced up for due to BHP output(300)

Only had the clutch fitted three weeks before it waqs written off in the Buncfield explosion, but waqs very pleased with it no judder or slip on max.

GET THEM TO QUOTE ON PRICE

The wagon is more than practical m8!

I've gone from the RB5 to an RA to John Banks old car. An Xreg UK Saloon with 2.5 litre and 20g turbo. Still waiting to get it on the road, but should be nice.

Greatwhite thanks for the comments I have tied them down to the £400 for total cost, gave them the car yesterday morning and still no car. looks like I wont get it back until end of today. Presumably it has been a bigger job than they anticipated but thats not my problem! Sorry to hear about your car bad news!! At least it was just the car(I Hope)

Dave
Sounds like some car you are working on, what sort of bhp is that going to put out?

"Should" be about 350/350. It'll make for a very nice car to drive me thinks. A nice tourer.

Default Update on Clutch

Well the latest is that my car went into the garage on Monday morning 0930hrs and I got a call from the garage lesterday afternoon saying refitting the gearbox was proving "a f#####g nightmare" clutch was in but the car was not going to be ready until later this morning! So he has obviously underestimated the job! I will hopefully be picking the car up after work tonight so will update you all tonight or tmrw morning!
Dave that sounds like it will be one sweet motor.
Peanuts are you saying you can get the clutch fitted all in for £150 !! That sounds a bit cheap?

Just had a phone call from the garage, the car is ready to pick up. They have no idea why the gearbox would not line up yesterday but went in no problem this morning! So who knows?
Hopefully no problems with the car when I pick it up later on.
cheers Ricky

can be, but doesnt have to be, agreed its a 4 hour job.
£37.50 p/h is £150, I actually paid him £130 as I gave him a batch of my own gear oil in case he needed it.
Also, when I bought my borg and beck clutch they were £98 incl. so total cost was £228 all in

nah just drop the box out the bottom - easy enough providing it's not the first time in 12 years they've been separated

Some people remove the engine to do it if they don't have ramps, but there isn't that much in it really.
