Intercooler holed..would this effect idle
#1
My cars in again at the dealer as it keeps stalling, the idle speed goes up and down to nearly stall, then it does stall.
Today I get a call to say they have found a stone has made a hole in the intercooler..came in through the bonnet scoop, through my power engineering intercooler shield..
Luckily they have a "spare" one from a P1 they can fit FOC for me, I've gotta pay an hours labour for them to fit it..but I'm still unsure if this would cause poor idle? Incidentally the car also squeak anything over 20mph, dosn't matter if in gear or not..they are putting this down to the intercooler aswell.
Any experts out there care to comment
Cheers!

Any leak in the system will cause the engine to surge. Can't comment on the squeek, but unless it's being made by the air passing through the hole, I doubt it's the IC.

A few years back a mate of mine had a Mini with a turbo on it, the hoses had a habit of popping off, this resulted in low power and very poor idling, my guess is that they're spot on with their diagnosis! the squeel is probably the air being sucked through the hole.
