Clutch advice... MY04
Afternoon All
Had a search through the forum, but cannot find exactly my symptom.
Problem...
MY04, 29600m, standard clutch.
Over the last 500 miles or so most gear changes have become 'jerky'. I can de-clutch, select a gear, bring the clutch up, but right at the top of the clutch pedal movement the car jerks. It's a very quick jerk as if the clutch has not smoothly engaged.
The only way I can do a smooth gear change is to take my time when bringing the clutch up to let it engage, or slip it!
The flip side of this problem is... change gear, bring the clutch pedal up to what feels like the gear has engaged, take my foot off the pedal... and there's the jerk again.
I've not felt any slipping under load. Fast gear changes seem OK, but are not a smooth as they used to be ( could be the driver of course )
I'm hoping it's something to do with the clutch pedal needing an adjustment, but could be the clutch is on the way out. I've never 'dumped' or abused the clutch since owning the car (2 1/2 years), and have only smelt a burning smell once when reversing up a steep bank and making a pigs ear of doing it.
Any thoughts?
Thanks. J.

Maybe not the clutch. Could be an engine flat spot causing the jerk as you're increasing the load. No idea what would cause this - must be due for a 30k service and plug change, perhaps this will cure it.
