You can use the MRT rally site (can't remember the URL check google) to connect plugs under the dash to count any CEL flashes to see if there are any errors stored. If not then a boost gauge is a useful indicator of some of what it going on.

I think if you only connect either the green or grey plugs (can't remember which) you will not reset the ECU, but read stored errors in the form of flashes. Have a search in Drivetrain for "fault codes" or similar - there are several threads on it. Codes also depend on your model year and car type to some degree.
