Default Ported Headers---remap?

I have a MY99 UK Turbo with the following mods:
Full H&S Decat
Green Panel Filter
TEK2 map

Running 277bhp/266lb/ft torque.

Thinking of eventually doing the whole API VF? thing and a remap. Have been advised to get ported headers at the same time.

Could I buy and fit some of harveys headers now, and run the car safely, without a remap until I get the rest fitted?

Any problems that I may encounter?

I'd ask David and/or the person who is going to map the car mate. At a guess, I'd say you'll probably be ok in the interim.

Do you have a knocklink?

you will not have a problem fitting a set of harveys headers and running them without a remap, i'd also look at getting one of his option 2 up pipes as well, i fitted just one of these to my own UK MY99 and thought it worked really well, much nicer, smoother, stronger top end imo

MY00 with full decat, TEK3 and a few other bits, had Harvey's headers and slip jointed up pipe fitted; much smoother drive but i do hit fuel cut off occasionally when driving hard....i guess that means you can run the car without a remap but remapping will make it safer.

Just porting the headers on its own doesn't make enough difference to warrant a remap, it's a bit like fitting a breather system, K&N panel filter or throttle body cooling delete, its a minor/subtle tweek that when combined with others can add to the potential when remapped.
