Default What clutch would be best in 400bhp STI7 6 Speed?

I have the following mods done to my STI7:

APS SR40 turbo
Equal length headers and uppipe, fully wrapped
3" decat downpipe and 3" straight through exhaust
Hyperflow top mount intercooler
Turbosmart dump Valve
Perrin induction pipe
APS cold air intake and K&N cone filter
Cusco Oil Catch Tank
3 Port Boost Solenoid
Helix ceramix 5 paddle clutch
Tek 3 Remap by Andy F
Walbro pump

The helix 5 paddle clutch at the minute is at the higher end of travel, but was informed it is supposed to be like this..

Anyway i find it pretty awkward in traffic and want something which can hold the power but also be nice to use and not so off/on if you know what i mean.

I also findthat the clutch doesnt wanna come outta gear sometimes and have to dip the clutch twice sometimes to get outta gear, dont wanna wreck the synchros so need to replace asap.

Anyone know of the cheapest prices, i know im probably looking at an uprated exedy or ap organic or something but wanna know which one to choose and price and link?

Am currently putting 360 bhp down with a Helix uprated clutch with no problems. Will have to see what happens when I upgrade further. Slightly off topic how did you find the APSSR40 turbo as I am looking at changing my turbo next year and getting opinions of different turbo's. As I have got the APS exhaust it would be easier fitting a APS turbo to get the divider set right. Cheers Steve

Well i have never used a TD05 20g or similar turbo to compare it to.

Compared to my last 350bhp scoob with TD05 16g i find the turbo a lot more powerful and supposedly is capable of 440bhp.

I find it more laggy than the TD05 16g but once on boost about 3500rpm it is a beast and really pulls like **** kand holds peak boost right till 6500rpm, never took the STI to redline.

David at APi runs one of his 400bhp Stis without issue with the Exedy organic, as do several others mate. I have this on a 320bhp classic and can confirm it's a very good clutch and is even nicer than OEM to use.

AP organic also very highly regarded, but there is some debate as to just how much different this is from the Exedy organic -especially given its higher price!

Give Api a call and tell em Ns04 says hi.

Had an ap organic on my last scoob and was a pleasure to use and never slipped.

Wonder would i be better off with the exedy hyper clutch with flywheel or could i get by without replacing or skimming my existing flywheel?

Also is the sti flywheel 8kg or 5kg as standard?

I ran my Bugeye WRX on the standard internals / gearbox / clutch for a year and a half running 320-360 BHP .....then the clutch started to slip

I swapped the clutch for an AP organic ....and then added methanol injection LOL

Still running near on 400 BHP on bugeye internals and gearbox as a daily driver .......just not quite as tarty as Mark

BHP doesnt kill your clutch, the torque does, and the chances are that your not even pushing that clutch, they are meant to be good for 450lbs of torque, so unless your doing standing starts all the time it should last you 100k plus

Its the trumpet that cuts into the bumper and the hose that feeds straight into the engine bay. RCM sell it as a kit.

Just a fancy name for a bit of tumble dryer hose

Clutches aint bothered about bhp, its torque that causes them to wear quickly, and they are good for about 450lbs of the stuff so more than adiquate
