Default My Mullered Fifth Gear

As the title suggests Just a few Pics of what happened to my fifth gear, very impressive I think. Could have been saved for a £8-00 bearing. All is not lost though, whilst rebuilding the gearbox Zen Performance changed the STI fifth gear for the longer UK spec one. Which should mean I wont be hitting the limiter at 148mph anymore. Also the clutch was well and truly contaminated with transmission oil so that was also replaced for a twin plate Exedy, (bloody noisy thing)

Big thanks to Paul, Liz, Tim and Derick For getting the car back together in such short time.

Thanks

John

The bearing got over heated due to no oil.

blimey that looks bad. I don't think there is anything worse than that grinding sound you hear, follwed by the lost of drive!!! and the thought of big bill on it's way.

When mine went I had no drive in any gears, which made getting around a roundabout very interesting!!!! I've still got bit of third laying around somewhere.

Ah yes but the no oil was down to the flywheel spigot bearing failing, causing the gearbox input shaft seal to fail etc etc.
