Default New Age Max Power on original Turbo

Hi All just doing a sanity check here just want to know (actual figures obtained) what bhp/torque/bar people have been reliably running for a new age MY03 - MY05 on the original turbo.

Thanks

Loler talk about thread hijack

Guys I'm looking for actual figures that people have got. Gatty I have 355bhp on the following spec

1) Uprated fuel pump
2) APS Cold air feed to inner wing (even amazed Powerstation how good it was) with duct leading to inner wing
3) APS Top Mount Intercooler
4) Miltek full decat (lose about 7bhp with 100 cell sport cat)
5) Remap at Powerstation
6) Made the I/C spray automatic using turbobits
7) GFB Plumb back BOV
8) c1.35 - 1.4 max bar

Ran it at 342 for about 6 months no problems except slight boost creep which Powerstation sorted.

Powerstations website gives you the upgrade costs.

The link is and advert on here.

Ask to speak to Rich there, tell him Toby or Karl from crossroads sent you.

They do all the mapping on my 05 WRX wagon and its a flyer.

Powerstation didn't buy in all the parts but it won't be cheap.

1) The APS cold air is probably £250 (guessing)
2) Top Mount not sure (but the STI original may be ok) - I wanted the extra headroom
3) You have PPP so you will have the uprated pump anyway
4) The turbo bits part was around £120
5) If you want a remap it will be about £599
6) The Miltek Exhaust is around £799
7) So I reckon you will not have change from £2k (not including labour)
8) You will need to sort your handling out (I have 18" and the powerstation stage 2). The stage 2 is a must in my opinion.
9) I have also upgraded my brakes to AP 6 pot+ but I would say change the discs, pads and brake hoses as a minimum.

So all in not including labour I would say you are looking at £3k minimum but with that spec you should get c340bhp and torque of more than 300 lb/ft but your car will handle and stop properly as well which is just as important.

kn panel filter or simular ,change centre section of your exhaust straight through (keep the rest as ppp)
remap

thats all you need to do to get around 330 bhp 330 torque
filter £30
exhaust £80
remap ????????? all depends were you go

any more horses will cost you unequal headers next step then induction kit
you turbo will stand 350 and still be efficiant

Believe me you DON'T need an induction kit this early on for that model car..... standard airbox flows enough for 430bhp at a push, regardless of what others may say (been there and done that). Spend the money on more worth while mods.

Yatesy had 350 and 380 torque or something on his standard turbo. Not sure of supporting mods but appeared to be running quite well at a recent RR day I attended. Certainly did better than mine with an 18G turbo...............

Thankfully issues now resolved thanks to a further remap

Guess there's loads you don't need but for my car definately went better with cold air kit (and done the comparison for my car).

You done any handling mods? If not, you should the difference is amazing and also brake upgrades too. If you've just done "that's it" your missing out on alot! Got at least another £1500 to spend on brakes and handling mods to get that STi singing. Hence the £3k+ (all round upgrade) to really make the STi come to life. From a standard PPP.

Looking good (so you haven't just done power mods ) Don't get me wrong the Brembo are excellent but it's not until you get better ones (disc, pads, hoses and calipers) that you realise just what you were missing. E.g. able to maintain more power upto where ever and stop in a fraction of the time.

Swifty how long you been running at 357bhp and what bar is boost set to?

Almost identical, don't forget I asked you for the details of turbobits? No more pressing that intercooler button just automatic spray cooling hehe. JD you had any handling and brake mods? Also another two good mod's is I've had the noisekiller sound proofing and also reverse 'speaking' sensor. E.g. "2 metres", "1 metre", "STOP!!!" lol

That is true - however the original poster did specify whether he had a UK or JDM car.

I know of an STi 8 with a customised PPP (he is associated with Subaru UK) and he had 345bhp simply with a remap and the other standard PPP parts. Speak to Pat at Clinic, Rich at Powerstation or Bob Rawle - all of them should be able to sort you out.

i do agree that when doing mods should try to do every part so you end up with an over all great car

Amazingly I got my AP 6 Pots from eBay (brand new). All that was missing from them was the bells and got them made here BG Developments - High Performance and Competition Brake and Clutch Equipment. Also came with 355 (grooved) AP discs and Ferrodo 2500 pads. Cost £950 and Scoobyclinic fitted them with some brake hoses max cost I would say was probably £1300. The difference is amazing!!! I didn't change the rear calipers but upgraded the discs (grooved) and the pads again to 2500! I cannot imagine how a better setup car would feel as this is just awesome.

For the first time in 18 months I don't want to upgrade it. I would consider a turbo but then not sure what the rest of the car could take etc, etc.

So any higher than 355bhp from standard turbo on the my53 sti uk?
