What model/gearbox? Classic 5speed by any chance? When did you last change the gearbox oil? Try some fresh syntrax from Castrol and see if it goes away.

What do i do get a newer gearbox or
can the gearbox be repairable and at what cost?

Oo,dear,thats nnot good !!

from experience,it might be cheaper and easier to replace the ewhole box, they can be picked up for £150 sometimes, whereas the labour involved and price of new gears/syncro`s can be alot more.

Get it sorted sooner rather than later. My box suffered similair problems (not with the bits falling out though!) and it let go all of a sudden leaving me stranded and waiting for the RAC. Luckliy they took it straight to Powerstation who sorted it out with the addition of a LARGE bill.

Find out who your local Scooby specialist is and have a chat with them. A removal, inspect and fix is likely to be around the £500 mark but thats better than a full rebuild at £1K.

You could buy a second hand box and get them to fit this, it may work out cheaper (£300ish + box ) but you have to rely on getting a good second hand box.
