ok this is just theoretical sooooo...
imagine a scoob pushing close to 400/400. Now its going to get used and abused with track days every 2 or 3 months and launched almost every weekend in drag races (few times a night at least)
well if this was real what box would you use that would last, cheap as possible of course hehe

Late 5 speed box with Zen Performance ppg gearset.
If the car is driven there and back the box fitted with synchro.
If trailered, a full dog box.
Steel selector forks.
LSD front and rear, preferably plated.
DCCD
Prodrive gearbox and engine mountings from Lateral
Good clutch, prob a twin plate to tolerate so much abuse.
Cost: Box = £3500
Diffs = £900 second hand, fitted by Zen
Clutch = £1300
Mounts = £ 250
Some labour, say £100 if the job is all done in one go at the same place.

It is the 400lbft torque that pushes the stock 5 speeder to destruction.
Mine has survived 380 x 370 for 3 years hard racing.
Graham.
Note!
A dccd 6 speed box with Suretrack front diff can cost £2500 with matching diff, but the rear diff will be an R180 and most early cars are R160 so more cost to fix the rear end half shafts/hubs.
Nothing is simple!
