the kit was pioneered on my car so I cant comment on fitting as it was actually constructed around mine.

All I can say is my opinions of it have been up and down since being on there and have yielded various improvements.

I now have all the gauges in place to monitor exactly what is going on and can say I am very very pleased with it now.

I have spa amplified K type thermocouples measuring the temperature of the air coming out of the turbo and coming out of the intercooler. The outlet temps simply does not change until the inlet temp gets very very high. This suggests to me that the temperature I am seeing is simply the ambient temperature outside the heat exchanger. It is only when temps get to around 90 to 100 (I dont often see this as I am concentrating on the road) that the outlet temp rises above this ambient temperature.

Obviously the turbo being metal remains hot for some time after the boost run, and as such even when off boost after booting it the inlet air is still around the 70 to 90 mark for some time, but the outlet temp of the core plummets back to ambient (15 degrees a few back when I was specifically looking).

This leads me to believe the unit is easily up to the job in hand, and I now am firmly convinced it is as capable as the others on the market.

I was concerned about water temps with the reduced size rad and so requested that bosses installed in the kit or receiving probes in both end cans. The left hand side one now holds my defi water temp sender and shows water temps ranging from 80/85 whilst driving running up to a max of 92 whilst in traffic, the fans making a difference when on.

I must admit that during my doubting periods I looked at all the others on the market with a serious view to changing and whilst teh other kits seemed more than impressive one major factor stopped me in my tracks.

The Pace kit is the ONLY one I found that does not require cutting of my bumper. This may not be a concern to most but with all the grief I have had with 22B bumpers there was no way I was going to be taking a hack saw to it.

Question

does this kit work on a car with air con? and is the new rad thicker than the std one? ie is it as efficient as the std one?

Hi there

I am one of the few who have the Pace FMIC and race spec water rad. It came as a kit because of the pipe routing. Unfrotunatley with this kit I had to lose the AC, no major loss over here. But on the plus side there was no bumper cutting involved at all. But it is very tight and comes close to the belts on the engine.

Sorry I forgot to mention it is on a 95 WRX so the pipe routing is different to the post 96's. The results are very pleasing keeping high boost day in day out. The car is currently running 1.2 but will soon be mapped for 1.5 - 1.6. And you all know that this is possible due to the much cooler charge temps.

If you want any pics drop me a mail I will get them off to you, in the mean time for more info speak to Wayne at http://www.paceproducts.co.uk. I hope this is of use

Deane,

Thanks for the posting.

Pace have since developed another kit which uses a larger core cross section than on your car, but also retains the standard air con.

It also has the advantage that it does not require bumper cutting and comes with a vastly uprated rad, along with bosses for siting of water temp gauge senders air temp gauge senders and water injection.

Needless to say I am very pleased with it, and the figures I am seeing certainly indicate that it is more than up to the job.

Thumbs up

Pete.

It comes with a new radiator, not possible to fit with old rad as the in/out pipe go over the top of the shorter rad.

Main fitting problems are caused by induction system getting in the way, (dependant upon induction system of course).

Mike,

What induction kit would you recommend with it?
