Question

Any ideas what my problem could be ?
From cold the engine makes a noise like either tappets or small ends on light throttle, which stops as soon as it warms up. It's more noticeable from inside the car. The car is a MY97 UK with 31,000 miles. It's just had the second service since I've owned it at a main dealer and they said there was no problem. They used standard oil as I don't know what it was run on before.
Anybody had a similar problem or any experience with oil additives ?

Leave it with the garage overnight, could be the dreaded piston slap if its only on start up (take it sounds like a diesel??)

Yeah, I did. And they said they couldn't hear anything, but when I tried to demonstrate the problem (sounds like a diesel) it was quiet ! (but I don't know how long it had been left since they tested it). I can't see how they couldn't hear it as it's done it since I've had it (1 year). ????
