'URGENT HELP REQ'D' Downpipe Fitting
#1
In the process of fitting a stainless de-cat downpipe to MY00.
Can anyone advise me on the the thread type details of the air sensor probe located near the turbo end of the down pipe. The sensor winds in part way but, not all the way home to the washer and I'm concorned that it will leak exhaust gaes if it isn't flush. By winding a tap through it should clear out the threads.
Also, the bracket nearest the mid-pipe end doesn't quite line up with the car mounted bracket. I don't want to force the pipe over to meet in case I damage the turbo end ie bolts/studs, so is it ok to use a smaller nut and bolt as it is just helping to hold the pipe up on the car.
Any advice on this would be great.
Chris

When fitting my downpipe I had to wind that sensor, the Lambda I think, in 3/4 turn and the all the way back out to clear the swarf from the thread. After several repetitions the sensor went in all the way.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mate,
I heard somewhere that it's the same thread as a sparkplug, if you can find an old plug, try cutting a groove down the thread with a hacksaw, then wind it in, that should clean the thread nicely!
I hope it works,
Ron.

Cheers for the advice guys.
Ron, I'm back at work now so I can suss out the thread size which looks to be M18 fine thread. I'll get hold of a tap and wind that through.
