Just built up my 'John Banks' special AFR meter, got it working great in the kitchen, but would prefer it to work best in the car.

I cannot find anywhere info on where to connect the signal line to on my MY94 ECU. The other guy's have newer cars so have fitted it in acccordance with the V5 WRX Link Manual.

However, having installed everyting in the car and removed the kickplate to connect to the Lambda input I find that the connections on mine are completly different.

Anyone out there have any clues......

Sorry don't know. I haven't found on the web a Link manual for earlier cars although I'm sure someone will pipe up with the answer.

How are you powering it? I put a little capacitor across pins 2 and 3 and then put it off the stereo power supply when I installed it permanently. What voltages are you runnning? For a ten LED display I would set 700 and 900mV and then your lights come in at 720 and upwards in 20mV increments. I now run a 3 LED display with 830 850 and 870 mV 4.5% 5.5% and 7% CO suitable for 3-9 9-15 and 15+ PSI respectively and it is all hidden except the three LEDs (red yellow green) mounted in one of the blanking plates by the foglight switches.

Takes a bit of time with the digi voltmeter to get the reference voltages right, and when I changed from a flattening PP3 battery to the car battery I had to tweak the pots very slightly to get them back on course. A few weeks later they are still within 1mV.

Hi John,

Currently it's set to run at 700mv to 900mv, and it is mounted insde the ashtray. That way it will run all the time, and if I need to look at the readings I just open the ashtray.

There was an unused connection behind the ahstray, which I connected to using standard spade terminals (no capacitor was used), as the input of the chip is quite a wide range.

Hopefully someone will tell me where to connect, otherwise I'll have to buzz through from the Lambda and that could take some time.

Goodness, didn't know you were an electronics engineer - feels rather like I was telling you how to suck eggs in that last post! Sorry.

The wire you want is a White one with Silver rings on it . If you are holding the ecu with all the wiring facing you , it is in the most right hand block , about 5 pins in .
hope this helps Dave

Cheers Big Bear,

I'll have another look later today. I thought it was white with silver rings as I could see that on the Lambda end, but at the ECU end there are several that colour.

I'll see if mine matches your description. I also think that connector block is the largest one, as they are all different sizes, oh and there all yellow......

You'll know when you've got the right one as after a few mins with the car idling you will get a Knight Rider effect on the lower say 7 lights as it rocks about stoich
