The RA box uses a different diff ratio to the UK car, so if you fir an RA transmission you must get the diff from the same doner car.
It is due to the output gearing to the rear diff.
The propshaft is the same.
However, one big difference is the RA's engine will revs far more than the UK, possibly an 8000 rpm red-line compated to a 6500 on the UK.
One of the reasons the RA works so well is the fact the gears are short, but the revs give you a reasonable speed in each gear. Go out again in the car, and get him to change gear at 6500 and no more.
If you still like it then give it a try!

If you get someone else to do it I think its about £2,500.
On top of the oily bits mentioned above, you will also need a controller for the DCCD.
I toyed with the idea but think its probably best getting a car with it already in situ.
Having said that I think I want a P1 which doesn't have DCCD anyway

It can be done. In fact I have a MY95 STI RA box coming out of my car, of which I'm keeping the DCCD centre diff and putting a UK centre diff on it. This box combo will then fit straght into any UK classic. I have a buyer lined up but if it falls through I'll keep you in mind

If you just want the lower ratios then get a Forester turbo gearbox and diff as they are 4.44 stock, although you get the wider gearbox ratios of the UK turbo, not the CR box.
