Intercooler Shields
#2
I was chatting to one of the guys from Powerstation, Cheltenham, in ths summer who rolling roaded a Sccob with one on and then removed it and got far better performance. Apparently although protecing your intercooler they also stop (and I'm not quoting or remembering very well) up to 25% of the air flow through the intercooler and you get a far higher charge temperature as a result.... I took mine off and also noticed a difference at speed....

I'm sure it restricts flow. However, a bent-fin intercooler will also restrict flow. Hence the question is: How many hours am I (are you) willing to spend contorting under the hood straightening the bent fins?

Restricted airflow............LOAD OF TOSH!!
I'VE had one for two years , intercooler like new ,power 269 bhp(uk my00 exhaust mods only !!)
Plus in my job we use mesh filters on pumps ,(and THIS IS THE LAST TIME ...........THEY DO NOT RESTRICT FLOW (MORE THAN 1%) )
If your fins are bent you'd only lose 7-8%.....
MORE than this is an Urban Myth.......
cheers
