Clutch questions

Just a few quick questions about clutches...
1 Can you tell if a clutch is on the way out just by seeing how high the biting point is?
2 What is the "average" life of a clutch? (I know this is very subjective )
3 How much hard earned pennies will it cost to replace?
Thanks for your help

life of a clutch is said to be UPTO 45,000 miles although if you drive hard can last as little as 2000 miles.
my uk turbo just had new one at 60,000 at cost of £760 including new bearing and VAT from power engineering - let someone who knows what they are doing do it - Mr cluth said they hadn't done one before but they would have a go and would cost about £650ish

if you want to see if the clutch is knackered - find a suitable road and put it in third gear - put foot down at low revs and wait for the turbo to kick in (around 3000rpm) when mine went there was no sign of it slipping at any other time - even if you tried to -but as soon as you floored it in third it slipped badly.

Just to add my penith!
Having my clutch done tomorrow. Seen on here people recomending AP Organic Clutch. I have no idea, getting Standard clutch. approx £280 plus 5 hours labour total (£500 to £600). I think AP is approx £360. Believe recommended if you have tweeked Scoob!
Should no more by tomorrow.

hi SWRTWannabe,
I've just booked mine in for a new clutch.
1. Yes
2. mines got 60,000 on it. Pretty sure it's the original.
3. £600.00(ish)
The price is from a subaru dealer, so I'm sure you could find it cheaper somewhere.
Cheers
