I recently bought this diff and believe it came from a late Legacy RSK/GT-B MY01. The diff has no visible markings any where, how can I find out what it is other than a plated diff?

On yours there should be enough plates that when you [ carefully, slowly ] undo the allen screws [ middle-left, pic 2 ] the two halves should start to separate by the pressure exerted on them by the plates and springs.
Not to hard or technical to take to bits and we can always reassemble it for you if you get into trouble. Take it apart and have a look see; you are looking for seizure of the LSD plates witnessed by scoring or tear marks on the surface of the metal.
Just check that all the teeth are there on the planet gears and that all appears to be correct, then oil it to death and reassemble. Just take care to note which sequence the plates come out when stripping. Nothing will fly to bits or should alarm you.
Is that a front or a rear?? If front, then it needs almost no tension on it or the torque steer will tear your arms off. If it is a rear, then it could do with 100 Ft lbs breaking tension to work well.
Good luck David APi

Sorry David I was a bit vague, its a rear diff.
I was trying to identfy the manufacturer, STi, Cusco etc and any other information.
Is it any good for my track car, bearing in mind I've still not finished it?
Glad to hear if I check the conditions that lots of springs won't explode out of the casing
How much to cast an eye over it?

Mark, to the best of my knowledge that is a Subaru part as we have only seen them in original diffs.
The problem is, that it may well be made as a sub contractor to Fuji Heavy, by Cusco or someone and I don't know how you'd ever find that out.
They do work well when working and l am sure it will do you a good turn.
Good Luck Mate, David
