Default Exhaust advice for a JDM STi7 Wagon

Looking at buying an import STi7 and just wondered what the options were with decating it? On my old MY99 I had a decat centre pipe, is this possible on an STi also?

Sorry for the dumb question, but don't know much (in fact anything!) about the model!.
Cheers
Matt

If you take the one and only cat off it (the one in the downpipe) then you WILL need to remap the car, otherwise you can have engine problems (because they have a tendancy to blow themselves up due to the boost spikes it causes).
As JGM says, lots of exhausts available though

Thanks for the advice guys, I wasn't even sure whether it had simply a downpipe cat, or if there was a second like my old classic!

The New age STi's don't have a center car, if you are buying a wagon thats a very rare car and well worth lavishing TLC on it, I look after one in the South thats now very happily running just over 400 bhp on its std engine (MD321T) but has all the supporting mods done, is used round the ring as well. If a saloon then all the upgrade comments still apply and since it has proper pistons in it like the Wagon a v good starting point. As std they are fueled very rich, decatting will cause boost to rise and its quite lively in any case, I doubt that the decat itself would cause too much of a fueling issue but it would be very unbalanced and the ecu would then hack the ignition back. You must change the fuel pump when remapping mind.

best regards

Cheers Bob, seem to recall you remapped my MY99 many years ago, so, if we decide to get it and go ahead with modding I'll be sure to give you a shout.

Presumably we need to run it on Super Unleaded, is itm worth also running it on octane booster to get the RON up around 100?
