After a drive of over say 5 miles my power steering really starts to whine. The tone of the whine also changes with the speed the car is going but you can really hear it when trying to reverse park. Also the steering gets a little heavier. Can the power steering rub on something or do bearings go??????????

Help

Have you checked the power steering fluid level, while the engine is running? There wsa mention of this a couple of months ago, and the guy who had the problem found that topping up the fluid level cured it.

I've had a look with the engine off. Does the level drop then when turned on?

There are 2 marks on the dip level, one for hot and one for cold. Its better to check it after its just been driven. I had the same problem, filled it up and the noise has gone! Got mine from Charlie Browns, they had a look up book to check the correct type. Or refer to your handbook.
