Induction kit
#1
Hi can anyone give me a hand,
I have just bought a K&N induction kit for my01 wrx from GG.
Asked them if it was easy enough for an idiot to fit and they said anyone could.
Well I must be a super idiot, it arrived in the two pieces with no brackets etc, do I use the one on the old one, what do I do, how do I fit it. Piccies would be good, explanation excellent.
Hope someone can help

Just fitted one to MY01. Took about 10 mins..... I haven't mounted it to anything. It fits quiet snugly into the space the original filter was....
Remove the casing of the panel filter. Top lifts off. Bottom is attached by two bolts either side. I believe they hold some other bits and bobs in place also.
I must admit I am a little concerned about it being able to move...I might make a bracket if I notice any damage to the filter after a bit of use...
Loads of whoosh sounds....I didn't think it would be quiet that loud.....
The oringinal panel filter is fed directly via ducting from the front of the car as a sealed unit...The cone of the induction kit just sits near the end of the ducting that comes out of the wing..Will this cause any problems? Anyone know....?

Simonma,Has it made a difference to the cars performance as I am considering getting one. I tried a K&N panel filter but the car just felt too hesitant and lumpy top end, and wouldn't pull past 120 ish, so i re fitted the oe element.

Sandman,
What scoob do you drive?
And cheers everyone lese thanks for the advice, I tried to take the ITG panel filter out today but the second bolt had been cross haired and spen nearly 2 hours trying to get it out, not a chance.
Ended up ripping the box out in frustration.
Induction kit is now fitted and def makes a difference on the responce and whistles away like nobodies business.
I had a backfire earlier though, is this due to the MAF sensor or am I talking ****??

Rob,its fine now thanks it was absolutely amazing the difference the panel filter made on mine . I was lucky I had access to a spare MAF it did it on both ! car did take about 50 -100 or so miles to "re adjust" to the oe element , or that could just be me. car has now covered 13500 and has freed up considerably.
