I have been using NF for a while now with no problems but have noticed when you get to the end of the bottle it seems to change from being a nice golden colour to being a bit black and murky.

Does anyone know why this is ? Could it be dissolving the plastic in the bottle or something ? Is it likely to block up my fuel filter ?

My car hasn't been right since I finished the last bottle, but I don't know if it was a bad tank of petrol that it got mixed with. I have since filled up from a different garage but it's still the same, this time mixed with a new bottle of NF, 2 mls per litre is the usual dose and the car is a MY95 WRX with a scoobysport downpipe and a HKS super drager and panel filter.

I did have a problem about 3 months ago and it turned out to be the oxygen sensor. I was told using booster can make the sensor wear out quicker but I expect a new one should last more than 3 months.

The car has had new coil packs and new plugs about 6000 miles ago, and up till last week was going like a dream.

I'll probably end up having to have it looked at again, but it would be nice to know what happens to the NF at the bottom of the bottle.

Cheers

Ken

Interesting observation Ken - I too use this booster and have been using a plastic medical measuring cone .
The booster has dissolved the cone !
Could be corrosive ? Could be concern if in concentrated form , but given the level of dilution in the tank should be ok .
I'll ring the manufacturers up next week - They make this stuff in Perth.

I have been using a 50ml plastic measuring cylinder as supplied with the NF. I'll check it tonight to see what the bottom of it looks like to make sure it is the stuff in the bottle and not the cylinder.

I have an email address somewhere so I think I will send a mail and see what the manufacturers say.

Cheers

Interesting!

I use NF and have not encountered this, keep us informed of your findings.

How long is it from when the bottle is first opened to when it is finished?

A bottle lasts 2 - 3 weeks from when it is opened. I use 100ml with a 50 litre fill up, roughly once a week. I emailed Geoff West and he sent me this reply:

Dear Ken
Thanks for the Mail and the concern about the bottles etc.
On the instructions it says "shake the bottle" as the concetration of NF
is very strong.
We have now been using these bottles for over 12 months and sitting on the
shelf since then and will take another 6 months to use up that stock.Havnt
had any signs of problems.

I have had a bottle of yellow "only so i could see through the bottle"
sitting on my table for around 8 months with just pure booster "RACE
BOOSTER" only and that has made the bottle go soft only but the product
was sitll the same as when i put it in there.
You will get a slight settling so thats why we say "Shake the bottle
before use"
The "Darkness " increase is due to the fact that it has now been exposed
the the atmosphere, it is only affected by "Direct" sunlight thats why we
use the coloured bottles.

As for Rob Jenks thread about the plastic measuring cup!!
As the NF is "Petroleum based" yes it will eventually distort the cup as
the cups are made for "water based products only"
Ever tried using a siringe you will find the rubber sucker will go all
soft this is due to the filler we use.
As i said before you are using petroleum based products and your "cars"
fuel system is designed this way so you will wont have problems and the
fuel lines are made of petroleum resistant rubber's and plastics.
We do "NOT" use any solvents in NF products if we did then there may be a
concern about what you are saying.

Remember that the bottles are in concentrated form.Once in the tank it is
very very much diluted.

If you have any other questions or concerns then please let me know.
Remember ALL South African fuel has this product in it !!!!!!))

Regards Geoff West

So it looks like I should read the instructions, and the problem with my car being a bit lumpy is more likely to be linked to the garage I went to than the stuff I added to the petrol.

The problem seems to have got less bad now, I'm on the second tank full since it appearred, so I'm going to see how it goes over the next couple of weeks. If it doesn't clear up then it's due a service this month so it can be sorted out then. I'll probably be giving you a call in a couple of weeks too, as I think I'm down to a couple of bottles.

Thanks

Ken

I had a bad batch of petrol in my second car, a Kia Shuma, and it took around 3-4 tank fulls before the car started to run right again, so it probably is the petrol and not the booster.

Cheers,

Wrexy.
