Your car has one fitted as standard - no need to buy unless you want the noise

there are loads about i run a baileys (type DV 10) one on my import sti its quality made and handles 320bhp ok and it gives that original distinctive tssssssssh it cost about £90 but varies from £85-£115 depending where you go
it took 5 min to fit just 2 or 3 bolts and you get a new pipe and gasket which just replaces the old one hope this helps
im thinking your original d/v is bolted on the right side of your intercooler same as mine or have you got the earlier engine layout?
you here loads of people on here telling you they sound stupid and pointless and chavy you just do what you want mate bell bk if you got any more q's

All turbos need a dump valve, it allows the pressure to be released when you take your foot off the gas so the turbo doesnt stop spinning between gear changes etc

I would get a hks ssqv valve, bit more expensive but sound awesome! Look at this link to see it on my99 classic.
if you want one let me know coz i can make a special adapter plate for it to fit your model.

HKS SQV has got to be the best looking dump valve around. The sound they give is really good aswell. More of a sharp stabbing sound rather than a whoosh.

Here is the link from ebay where they are reasonable money..

The best IMO are the OEM and the Forge recirc dump valves, however, if you are set on a VTA (the noisy one) then I would recommend a TurboSmart or Forge. Don't buy cheap rubbish off fleabay.

I had a TurboSmart one on for a while. Only made a noise over 3000rpm, so not too over the top and was adjustable. Still did my head in after a short while.

I had a HKS SSQV but took it off.

What I had planned to do before I sold the car was get a Forge DV with the spring kit. Put in a spring that would only open if the turbo was on max boost.

So, below max it wouldn't open which would give the comp surge WRC noise and on max boost it would open properly to attempt to prevent the turbo imploding

There is no real benefit to fitting an aftermarket dump valve as the OE does a perfect job. Only fit one if you want to look a plonker in town

I'v got the turbosmart one, not sure if its worth the extra pounds over a baileys or forge,at £250 that is including the kit you would need to fit it
,i have a my00 sti and it was easy to fit,
it is adjustable some people think it is for loudness ,it's not . you can adjust the stiffness of the spring / piston ,you want it as loose as possible i was told, if its to loose the car would stall i was told.the adjustment also means as the spring loosens off you an adjust it easily back to the correct stiffness.
. i have it at its loosest though and it is still queit stiff.
sounds great, you wont hear it driving around town unless you want to by accelarating harder in a lower gear than you otherwise would have before it was fitted .when really gunnin it ,it sounds awsome like a whip cracking, and when its at the point when it is just opening a bit you get some interesting chattering noises.
and def a top quality bit of kit.
