Default are transfer casings interchangable dccd / non dccd

ive just bought a second hand ppg box which is built to use a standard uk rear diff and im thinking about puttin a dccd on with 1:1 drop gears to use my 3.9 quaiff atb rear diff can this be done ok ?

providing its the same type of transfer case it will fit the same type of box ie ty52 case will fit a ty52 box but a ty54 wont fit. iv just fitted a ty52 case, drop gears and dccd diff to my 93 wrx. Did it with the box still in the car was a right ball ache !

you can mix and match almost as much as you like. Only the very early transfer cases are suspect as they are missing a feature that mates with an element of the reverse synchro system.

The DCCD transfer case is the same regardless of age. My that I mean that the v2 DCCD uses the same case as a V6 DCCD, so either will fit on any 5 speed box.

so what age of transfer box is classed as early ones ?
the box is a 98 uk and the dccd is 95 ish
