It is the torque that overwhelms a clutch, so if you are hitting 400 lbft at full boost then you need at least an AP Organic or an Exedy from API above.
Davis at Welcome to the API website will advise you.
IMHO:
Box out is the best way, less complicated and less messing about with pipes everywhere.

Aren't the AP Organic only rated to 350 lbft, the exedy uprated organic to 320 lb ft?
The Exedy organic uprated Subaru put in my motor with 360 bhp/325 lbft torgue 3 years ago juddered very very badly, on pulling away and down shift, so much so I got compensation from Subaru for damage to bearing, pressure plate and flywheel! Mainly tho as they didn't change flywheel as they had been told to do so ( I was paying for it! ).
But had an Exedy Hyper single plate fitted recently, comes with own 6kg flywheel and alloy pressure plate, but again really poor driveability as really bad judder. Really bad judder on pulling away and really bad on down change. Advised this is not a clutch you can slip .... so how on earth do you pull away in traffic with a car 10 feet in front at 10 MPH ?? And why the judder even when clutch is dumped on down change ... no slip there! Was great to hold the power / torque, but no use to drive in town/traffic or on track with the down shift problem. AS it was out, the install was checked and found to be spot on, but pressure plate pitted probably due to the need to slip in the described town driving situations.
So much so 'box is out again 2 month on and looking for a proper clutch that works in town / queue driving.
Any good ideas for good smooth town driving clutch that can handle 400- 450 bhp & 350 - 400 lbft torque ?

LOL, got my garage on the case, I'll let you know!!
As torque is on the limit of AP Organic but don't use it all the time at full boost ... possibly looking at another AP Organic .. great clutch for all sorts of driving upto around 350 lbft, a little mor e in bhp. I liked it.
Only changed it as near 3 years old and box was coming off as I broke 3rd gear !
