I would also recommend his AFR meter if he will calibrate it for the Scooby which I think he said he would. It is very similar to the circuit I described and in fact uses the same chip in quite a neat package.

This Dawes device has caught my eye and I've been trying to catch up on the various threads that have been put out there.
I notice that John has had considerable input to these threads especially with regards to his particular car.
I would be interested in buying one of these and the AFR meter from "Darren" (who is Darren?) if someone could get me the price, spec etc.
I would also appreciate any feedback from STi owners (mine's a V4) as I guess the difference in turbo sizes and factory boost settings (as well as fuelling issues?) may be a consideration.
I also have a full decat system which I hear may also cause problems?

Whatever we want!
If enough of us want the same item i.e. shorter pipe, bigger bleed hole etc. maybe we should mention the longer spring!
Darren is calibrating an AFR meter for me as per the values you recommended from the Link manual.

I would not want a longer spring, but on TD04 turbo'd cars I would suggest a 1.5mm bleed hole instead of the 0.5mm on it comes with. It would be a quick job for Darren to do a whole batch for a group buy I reckon, but not everyone will want this esp if you have a TD05.
Oh you could also ask if he will fit the silver hose to the opposite end to make for easier fitting - you can use the existing wastegate hose but not the original turbo nipple hose unless you remove the restrictor.

I'm fine with steak now Scooby work is free Without a PPP we will be limited to about 16-17PSI because of fuel cut but at the top end there should be very little in it even though I run 18PSI in the midrange. Do you still have the DP on - I never saw your car - you must have a boost gauge a thrasher like yourself? My car is way quicker than when you came out last time. You will have a nice drive home. Your fifth gear will fly with a Dawes on. I get 50-70 in 5th in 5-5.5 seconds depending on how I set it up - as completely standard it was 8.5 seconds.

I have got a boost gauge and the DP is off at the moment, but could easily be put back on. Last time I came up my car was at the dealers, again!! I had a TD Mondeo, LOL.
Would love a PPP ECU, but what are the chances of getting one. To be honest I'm very very pleased with the current performance, and the Dawes looks an easy upgrade for someone that understands it to fit. And it's easy to remove, so dealer friendly
Really looking forward to getting one and coming up there. What is this AFR meter, you were talking about ?

I was too cautious with the last group buy, but since there has been so much written about them since then I'll definately be up for one in a group buy (have thought about it since but can't be bothered with the PayPal malarky.

As long as there aren't loads of you coming on a Dawes group drive to ask me to fit it!!!
I will have nightmares about being chased down twisty lanes by loads of Scooby owners holding out their Dawes and waving them at me menacingly. Mind you, you wouldn't keep up as my Dawes is already fitted

They really are VERY EASY to fit though - a 5 year old could do it unless it is on an Evo 7 which is an absolute pig for access - but Sam's results of 371bhp even if they are optimistic show that it is worth it - this car only has an exhaust and a few other nips and tucks.

i received my dawes device today- can't see any problems with fitting it (early days yet though!).
what sort of level of boost would you recommend to set it at to be safe with a MY01? car is standard apart from a scoobysport system (turbo back) and ITG filter. obviously i want the car to be quicker and more responsive, but i don't want to melt it just yet!

Simon - Do you still have your up-pipe cat? If so the I-club guys are always going on about high EGTs at part throttle full boost with MBCs and wonder if their up-pipe cats could fry and fly into the turbo resulting in lots of little bits inside their engine, although I don't think they have conclusively linked this to MBCs. Don't want to scare you and I personally think they are paranoid, but I can't just encourage you to slap it on your car when there are possible consequences. I would fit it to a MY01 only if it was completely decatted and had the bleed hole enlarged and you had some way of measuring EGT as well as other safety parameters. In other words I am frankly trying to put you off.
Doug - 830 850 870 890 mV for the lights are the business ones - see my earlier DIY AFR meter thread in drivetrain for detailed discussion. There was also another thread in drivetrain about this with Dawes AFR meter in the title.

It is apparently a bit more involved than doing a downpipe, so a few hours labour? Ask Scoobysport for their advice? Certainly they want to remove the up-pipe and downpipe for MY01 PPP cars otherwise the igntion retard is too close to the buffers for comfort. Ask Pete Croney.

I think fitting the up-pipe is quite a big job, scoobysport lift the engine I believe.
I had heard Steve Lawson has fitted them without doing this, not sure tho, might be worth giving him a shout.
Either way it's a pig to do.
I had heard that even without the cat in the up-pipe there can be problems with the turbo on the MY01 with MBC due to EGT, has anyone heard anything on that?

Sorry for the stupid question guys, but what is an "up-pipe"?
I assume by the description it is a cat that goes in line before the turbo? Is it a new fitment to MY01 models only as I've never heard reference to it on previous models?
