Default Adjust Alternator belt?

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone could give me a quick idea of how to slacken my alternator belt slightly?

I had the plastic cover off the other day(late) and it looked like its quite simple.....just turn the long threaded bolt?

Had a look online but couldn't really find anything concrete!

I had cambelt done at ScoobyClinic about 8 weeks ago and I have had a squeak ever since....when I was at SMACS last week.....a guy had a listen and told me it was deffinitely the alternator/fan belt....said that it was too tight and it was making the bearing squeak. When the belt warms up(15 minutes or so...) the squeak vanishes!

Anyways...the belt is very tight.....can't turn at all....apparently, it should have some play in it?

Anyways,

just want a little reasurance before I start twisting bolts! LOL!

Oh...too far to go back to SC....and if its a simple job...theres no point!

Thanks for any help.......

You need to slacken the pinch bolt before you turn the long adjusting bolt.

Sorry i was a bit vague there. There is a pinch bolt that locks the long adjusting bolt that you described. If you follow the long adjusting bolt down as though you are looking for the end of it, you will see it.
