Question

So, I'm in the market for a Scoobysport back box for my MY00 Turbo. How do most people get them fitted? DIY? Go to Scoobysport? Get a friendly local exhaust shop to fit it and bung 'em £30 or so? Your advice please!

Tim,
It's two bolts and a bit of muckin about with the rear support brackets, easily a diy job, all you need is a pavement to park it on so you can wriggle under, it doesn't have to be very high to do it, there's a gasket in between the bb and the centre section, you should be able to re-use it.

try qwik fit if you trust em, but make it 20 quid, 30 is way over the odds

You'll have to ring around though, I went through the same drama a year ago and ended up ringing 12 or so different places until one agreed to do it 'We only fit stuff we sell'. *******.

Swapped mine myself the other week.

It wasn't too hard just the bolts inbetween the two pipes were difficult to get off and back on, due to there location.
Bit of WD40 and they came undone it just then took ages to hold a spanner and try and turn the rachet on the otherside.
By the time I was halfway through doing them back up my arms were killing me.. I think one of those rachet ring spanners would have made the job a lot easier.

The original box is harder to get out of the rubber mounts than the new one was to get in them. So just push as hard as you can and they slip in to the rubber mounts eventually.
Removing the rear wheel helps with the front most mount I found.

Goodluck

For the rubber mounts, use that thick grease or your preferred lemon-scented washing-up liquid

I'm up for giving a go myself, although images of previous exhaust replacements haunt me a bit - you know, when you see some spotty grease monkey taking an air gun to your beloved's nuts, then you see him still struggling to remove them despite 4 million foot pounds of torque, so he whips out the oxy-acetelene to loosen them up a bit! I could do without that crap. I'll have to get under the car for a bit of a recce.

I just fitted a SS backbox about an hour ago - piece of pi55! I just jacked it from the diff and stuffed a couple of bricks against the front wheels - bit dodgy, did the trick.

Nice sound, but nowhere near as loud as I thought it would be.

Thanks for the link, Tim - very useful.
So AKSHAY67, did you want the exhaust to be louder, or was the fact that it wasn't so loud a good thing? I want something that will make the car sound throaty, but not too mentalist. Does anyone have any .wav files that compare the difference between standard & Scoobysport exhausts?
