Check Engine warning?
#1
On my drive into work this morning, the 'Check Engine' sign illuminated.
I haven't had time to check oil level/water level although I will before I leave this evening.
In the meantime, the car still runs fine and I don't have an oil warning light or similar - I think I had this once before and my lambda sensor had failed but as the car just coughed and spluttered and wouldn't go over 4000 revs, it was an obvious problem.
I just wondered if this warning related to anything specific and whether I should still drive the 50 mile trip home or check it into the local tuner for them to take a look?
Cheers
Ben

My understanding of it is that you need to plug it into a select monitor to check what the code is displayed to see what the fault is. There is a way to get the light to flash a code which you can then look up by connecting a couple of connectors together I think, but I don't know how.
If the engine is still running fine then I guess you might be okay to drive it home gingerly but don't take my word for that.
