52 degrees?????
#1
Hi,
Never been able to solve this one after asking a few people.
In all the impreza info I've read in books/on the web etc it
always gives the engine spec as something like "1994cc 4 cylinder horizontally opposed at an angle of 52deg....."
where is this angle measure from and what does it refer to?
are the cylinders at and angle within the block whilst still
at an angle of 180deg to each other??
An explanation would be fantastic!
cheers,
Matt.

Matt,
Nope... the cylinders are horizontally opposed, i.e. a v angle of 180 deg, if you like. The valves might be at angle of 52deg in the head, but definately not the cylinder bores.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks alex...i think you might be right. After looking at a cutaway...this might make sense, just the way it was worded made it sound like this angle is something to do with the cylinders,
cheers ,
Matt.
