Question

Just wondering if anyone has any hints or tips for flushing & re-filling the coolant ssytem. I assume it's probably flushed by removing a pipe but I don't know which is the best one to go for.

Also, I've being looking at Redline WaterWetter http://www.redlineoilireland.co.uk/ & wonder if anyone else with a Scooby has used this & at what percentage with water, & if also some anti-freeze was used?

Regards

Johny.

Your manual should give the basics on this for a MY00:
-Turn heater to hot(not sure if this is neccesary)
-Locate the drain plug which is on the bottom left of the radiator when facing the front of the car
-Find a suitable container and place it by outlet
-Loosen the thumb screw on the drain plug and point the little drain pipe into your container with a suitable hose to direct it if possible
-Leave it until fluid drains out
-You could run some clean water through the system
-Close up plug
-Fill with 50/50 premixed solution of antifreeze and soft water
-Fill it slowly from radiator tank and filler nozzle
-When fill close everything up and start car
-Let it warm up a bit
-Let it cool down if neccesary and check the levels again
-Go and have a beer
-Dont forget to double check it after you have gone for a drive

I dont think so. Just make sure you fill it up slowly and squeeze the pipes to get the air out.

i was in a mates garage not too long ago and a sevice guy came to replace the coolant and auto tranny fluid in an e class merc... all i can say is the system he used was fantastic, basically it worked like a kidney dialysis machine, its plumbed in the coolant system, filled with new coolant and flushes the system till it runs clean thru the visible window, the benefit is no mess and it flushes/loosens alot more debris in the radiator and the cabin heater matrix.. which a satndard drain mightent shift, this was in a small garage in Dublin so I would presume there is something similar in the UK... its a mobile unit too so it can be done on ur driveway... and the Bad news is I cant remeber the name of the company... give ne while I;ll get more info...

Cheers
