Question Which Rear Diff Oil to use...

Hi,

My brother has a knocking from the rear and it could be the rear diff, but b4 changing that I think an oil change will be worth doing.

What oil is needed for the rear diff on a standard W-reg (2000) classic STI? Am I right in thinking its 75W-90?

I've got a few options from Opie Oils, but not sure which is most advisable... semi or fully synthetic?

Or is it worth going for the upgraded stuff?

Thanks
Alex

On Opie Oils they have:

Silkolene SILKTRAN SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil (now Fuchs Titan Race Syn 5 75w-90) ...£12.59 /1 ltr.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is the rear diff limited slip in my bro's car?

Alex,

Either the Fuchs Syn 5 or Race Gear 90 LS are fine for open and LSDs.

Cheers

Tim
