Oil Cooler for my STi V5?
#1
My car is still being looked at and it has been suggested that I consider an oil cooler as apparently V5's tend to blow up after long period's of hard driving
Has anyone had one fitted?
Are they recommended/ worth it?
What benefit will I get - reliability?

I considered one of these for mine, as i liked the look of the one that lies in place of the top mount intercooler (i have aps front mount) but was talked out of it as it not that clever an idea apparently.
1. something about engine heat there
2. something about it being a long way for the oil to be pumped to and the force needed to pump it there.

got it a year back, good stuff mate
oil temp is now down by 10 C
on motorway cruising i noticed temperatures of as low as 67 C
the quality is good, but it's a bit of a pain in the ar$e to fit
other than that happy

Do you have oil tempt guage fitted?
If not you should do that first & probably sve yourself a lot of money.
In a WRX wagon I was surprised to find I did not need one after experts selling same said I would.
This experience was repeated for my STi6 Wagon which does not hang about.
Hope this helps.
