MY99, running 800 ecu. I am thinking of going going for the full SS exhaust, however, I understand that I could experience 'over boost' etc etc, what will I have to do to get around this problem?
I don't want to go down the Dawes route and understand that the CEL can be fooled with a black box. Your comments welcome....

Don't think that it is as much an issue on the MY01 WRX as on the STi. Should be able to be addressed by modifying or replacing the restrictor between the boost control solenoid and the wastegate actuator.

Scoobysport should be able to help you with this without too much trouble. Right Pete? ;-)

I don't think the GC's have had such a problem with either "overboost" or the CEL coming on. Had a MY99 for more than a year, running a full decat. Boost steady at 0.95bar, never had a CEL.

RT is correct - you won't get a CEL on your car if you go fully de-cat. It is only on the MY01+ WRXs that have this feature - it is required for the North American markets that they check the efficiency of the cat and they choose to monitor the 2nd (downpipe) cat.

Some people have reported overboosting when de-catting the car, but this appears to be on cars with PPPs. It can be cured by changing the restrictor in the tubing to the solenoid.
