Sick Scooby, PLEASE HELP!
#1
Looking for help please. Just had my '93 WRX out for a run, gave it some stick to pass a car when suddenly stopped pulling. Pulled over and car cut out. Had a look under bonnet but could'nt see anything. Tried restarting and it fired no bother, oil pressure up instantly, no warning lights on so started down road as less than a mile from home.
Car ran like a sick pig, clouds of black smoke (running really rich, i hope) and would'nt take much throttle.
Back home with some light on situation found hose from intercooler to turbo off,(just had decat d/pipe fitted, must have been left loose) reconnected and car idled perfect. Thank #*@# i thought. Took it a run up the road, came up the revs, black smoke from exhaust and car started to missfire. Put it down to plugs having sooted up but smoke has now cleared and car still misses slightly when on boost. What have i done to it??? Please don't tell me i've killed it.
Any advice hugely appreciated
Thanks, Keith.
Car details are:
'93 WRX
standard except for Scoobysport d/pipe
Magnex system
pipercross panel filter

Sounds like you have an air leak after the turbo (major one when the turbo to i/c pipe 'fell' off). Check all hose connections and the turbo to intercoller hose for splits (this does happen). Replace with Samco hoses if necessary.
To explain, fuel is metered to the engine by measuring the airflow throught the MAF any leaks AFTER the MAF and particularly the turbo will result air loss, and the incorrect amount of fuel being injected -ie. to rich.
